The Transformational Communication model provides people the tools with which they can create empowering relationships - at work, at home and in the community.

It is based on the Person Centered Approach (PCA) developed by famed American psychologist Carl Rogers who found that three specific practices are at the core of all growth enhancing, empowering communication. These skills are concerned with: the way we listen, how we express ourselves, and the attitudes with which we relate to ourselves and others.

Though his work initially focused on the use of these tools by professional psychologists in a therapeutic setting, Rogers in his later years realized that these skills applied to all human relationships.

This led him to position PCA as a non-expert model that could be used by all kinds of people in a wide variety of situations and settings including: teaching and the helping professions, business and organizations, community and international relations .

The Institute for Transformational Communication (ITC) has developed a comprehensive methodology to facilitate the learning of these skills through a series of workshops, continuation groups and support materials. Participants are engaged at three levels – the cognitive, emotional and experiential – making possible profound learning and transformation.
